What we are not

We are not a roofing contractor, not an IBHS evaluator, and not part of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. Why the dates matter

Grant windows open and close. Every program figure on this site carries an as-of date and links to the source at ldi.la.gov, because planning a roof around a stale grant number is exactly the mistake this site exists to prevent.

The three money layers, as of 2026-07-19

Insurance discounts, permanent. Louisiana law (La. R.S. 22:1483) requires insurers to give an actuarially justified premium reduction for FORTIFIED homes, applied to the wind portion of the premium. Published discounts today mostly run 15 to 30 percent, with some insurers higher. LDI Regulation 136 (2026) sets mandatory FORTIFIED discount benchmarks of 16 to 49 percent on the hurricane portion of premium, by region and designation level, for every policy issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2027.
State tax credit, active now. Louisiana offers a nonrefundable state income tax credit of 100 percent of qualified out-of-pocket FORTIFIED roof expenses, up to $10,000, for projects completed on or after July 1, 2025.
LFHP grant, between rounds. The 2026 Louisiana Fortify Homes Program round is closed: registration ran June 1 to June 19, 2026, and 3,000 grants of up to $10,000 were awarded by random selection. No next round is scheduled yet, but the program gained a permanent annual funding source on July 1, 2026, so future rounds are expected. Get notified when a round opens: the LDI alert list.
